JANEEMO

JANEEMO takes its name from the trees used in this reforestation and sustainable livelihoods project: Jatropha, Moringa, and Neem.  We work with local villages to establish demonstration sites featuring these trees and train community members how to care for them.

JANEEMO

Jatropha seeds are crushed and used for their oil, providing up to a litre of fuel per tree. The seed cake, left over after pressing, is a nutrient rich organic fertilizer.

Moringa leaves are considered one of the healthiest plants available containing high amounts of potassium, fiber, calcium, iron, vitamins A and C, and protein.

Neem is easily coppiced, providing a sustainable source of fuel wood year round and has powerful, natural insecticidal properties.

We incorporate these trees, through our partnerships with JANEEMO and the Scottish Government, into our trainings and into demonstrations in villages and other local communities. Through their support we have planted over 4000 JANEEMO trees for use at our demonstration centre.
